Dave is the head trainer and manager of Barbarian Muay Thai in Victoria. Currently Ashmore is training “Stone Cold” Steve Moxon for his next World Title fight in February, before flying to London where Moxon will face Jordan Watson. All this at the same time training for Dave’s own WKA Victorian title fight in April. So this is a busy start to the year for The Barbarian.

Now…where did it all begin? Dave first started training in Muay Thai in 1999 with Kyle Buttress. After a few fights an opportunity arose to take over as head trainer and manager of his gym and 13 years and many fights later here he is, with many fighters and students passing through his stable doors. “We have an amazing team at Barbarian Muay Thai that keep every session feeling amazing”……”My main drive and goal is to make sure that all my students and fighters get to enjoy this sport as much as I do and give them as much as I can as a trainer and teacher”

Dave’s an avid fan of the likes of Carnage, Paul Briggs, Moxon, GSP, Ramon Dekker, Saenchai and Samart.

He trains Thaiboxing 4-5 times a week with strength work 2 sessions a week. His sessions vary from 1 and a half hours to 2 hrs pending on intensity.

For Dave, it’s not all been Muay Thai…”I am currently a probationary 2nd Dan Black Belt in Zen Do Kai & a 1st Degree Black Belt in AEK. I have trained boxing for a few years and had a couple of amateur boxing bouts and 3 pro bouts”.

When he’s not busy with Martial Arts, Ashmore love his family time…”I have an amazing wife Sally and two awesome kids Tristan And Abigail, when I’m not training I love spending time with them, fishing and traveling. I’m very lucky that I have my wife as part of the fight team and my son is training in Muay Thai under Kru Dip”

In Dave’s many years of fighting his most memorable moments…”My first full Thai rules fight was a mad rush and having my son in my corner for my fight in Thailand in January was awesome”

Some final words from The Barbarian… “I’d like to thank my amazing team at Barbarian Muay Thai for all their hard work and especially my wife Sally and Trainer Kru Dip”
