Who’s “The Jew”?….A tough fighter from Top Tier Muay Thai in Victoria, that’s who!

Johnny started Muay Thai around 2 years ago as a way to lose weight which he has successfully done – dropping 30kgs over that time. “Originally I started as away to lose weight as i was 115kg at the time, i had know my trainer (Chris Bradford) for a while and he had just started up his own Muay Thai classes as a part of another BJJ gym, I was mostly doing BJJ and dabbling in Muay Thai, but once Chris got his own place I made the switch and never looked back!…..To be honest I never had any intentions of being a fighter, my plan was always to have 1 fight just so I could tick it off the bucket list. A year later to the day after I had my first fight I won my first tile and had 6 fights under my belt.”

He attributes his success to his “great support network, and everybody’s hard work and dedication at the gym”

Johnny had started with boxing and BJJ but has found his passion in Muay Thai “I did a little bit of boxing when I was younger and BJJ on and off for around 2 years, i competed a few times in BJJ but i wasn’t very good” and his goals for his fighting career is to take out a WMC Victorian Title “I just take it one fight at a time, although i would love to add a WMC vic title to my collection next!”

Downtime consists of…well there isn’t much room for downtime, Johnny also runs a personal training business “I enjoy helping train other people, i have just started my own personal training business which keeps me extremely busy, and im also a bit of a TV junkie”

Bourke takes inspiration from such fighters as Chris Bradford, AJ Brunton, Nathan Corbett and Daddy Cool, so with fighters like that to look up to, it’s no wonder “The Jew” trains hard “When im fighting i try to train at least twice a day, even if its just a run in the morning”.

His his first win and taking out the IKBF Title will always stay with Johnny as his most memorable moments so far in his career, with plenty more to come in the future! “I am fighting on the undercard of Rumble In The Jungle 24 on November 23rd featuring Maseh Nuristani Vs Michael Badato which should be an absolute war. Im also hoping to make it up to Urban Fight Gym again to do a bit of training with those guys”

A final word from “The Jew”
I would like to thank everyone who helps and supports me. Special thanks to Athletes with Attitude, Hayes-Winckle Real Estate, Corio Bay Sports Medicine Centre, The Grovedale Hotel, Ryder Constructions, and everybody else that supports me!”
