Twenty-three-year-old Beck Beirne looks like your average twenty-something-year-old. But she has a hidden talent behind that exterior.

While typical twenty-three year olds can be found out with friends, Beirne spends her time at the gym. In spite of her girl next door appearance, this girl is a formidable force in the ring.

When asked what inspired her to get involved in the sport Beck replied, “Nothing in particular inspired me, I have always been interested in martial arts, when I would watch Dragonball Z every morning. I did karate for a few months when I was about seven, and then when I was about ten or eleven, started Taekwondo.I’ve always enjoyed watching Muay Thai, Boxing and MMA for as long as I can remember.”

Beirne hails from Victoria, and trains at the Supafight Gym. For the last three years she has trained hard, and her performance in the ring shows it. While she holds no titles at the present time, Beirne is definitely one to watch with only one loss out of eight fights, she is strong and aggressive with an amazing kick on her!  11987136_961183383922930_4947553531576679394_n

Beck says that her greatest strength is her competitive nature, hard work ethic, and high standards that she sets for herself.

When asked what advice she would give a young girl who wants to get into Muay Thai, Beck’s response echoes her personal mantra, “practice makes perfect.”

Beirne says that when she’s not training, or fighting you can find her, “…out earning some coin doing traffic control…But, if I have some time off, I like reading, movies, cafes, going to the beach, bike rides, and sometimes a night out having a few cheeky drinks.”

When asked to reflect on the most pivotal point in her career, Beck lists going to Thailand, and winning her first fight. Beck was recently one of the top 5 nominees for the Upcoming Female Fighter of the Year Award at the 2015 Australian Muay Thai Award which were held in Sydney in December.

Beirne, who describes herself as a forward fighter, returns to Australia fresh from training in Thailand. You can be sure that all eyes will be on this amazing powerhouse during her next fight on March 5th, in Melbourne, Victoria.

One thing is clear, the sky’s the limit for this awesome fighter, who says that she sees herself in the not too distance future, “ completely living Muay Thai, training hard, with a few belts.”
